OSNP nutrition programs meet the nutritional needs of school-aged children experiencing food insecurity, while incorporating educational links to food systems and community building. ​The Equity & Culture in School Meals Program will procure healthy food items in bulk that are reflective of diverse cultures (e.g. dragon fruit or naan bread) and distributing them to participating schools as part of their daily/weekly snack offerings. The menu enhancements will help to ensure hungry children are well nourished while also encouraging appreciation of different traditions and foods. Food literacy resources highlighting the items will be developed in partnership with knowledge keepers from different cultures.​
