St. Matthew’s House

St. Matthew’s is dedicated to caring for vulnerable populations with a focus on food, housing, and income insecurity. They operate in the poorest neighbourhoods of Hamilton, Ontario, where there are high rates of ill-health, mental illness, and limited education levels. The Community Impact Grant will support their Seniors in Kitchens program – a free food delivery system for at-risk seniors, offering good food at no cost, while eliminating obstacles like distance, physical limitations and the costs and complexities of public transit. It will also support the Seniors First Response Team program which provides emergency food support for seniors, and works with Crisis Support to identify social and financial issues that require intervention.
