Kitikmeot Heritage Society

Pitquhirnikkut llihautiniq (Kitikmeot Heritage Society) means learning through culture and is exactly what this organization is dedicated to. Revitalizing Inuit culture and language by developing programming and resources immersed in Inuinnait values, beliefs, direction, and ways of knowing. The Elders in Training will learn from the current Elders-in-Residence and receive mentorship to someday take on the role. The current Elders represent the last generation of Inuinnait who were raised to adulthood on the land and are among the most fluent carriers of the language and culture.
