Green Thumbs Growing Kids
Green Thumbs Growing Kids is a for-impact food and nature literacy program with a mission to cultivate environmental stewardship through hands-on garden and food education for urban children and youth. In 2022 they had over 3,500 participant opportunities offering over 225 hours of learning. Kahik Growers (Mohawk for fruit) is a new program supported by the Community Impact Grant, that builds upon past youth programs but shifts the focus to Indigenous land-based pedagogy. The program will engage both Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth in weekly sessions relating to gardening, Indigenous plant knowledge, cooking, and climate change/environmental solutions.
