Compost Education Centre

The Compost Education Centre’s (CEC) mission is to cultivate resilient communities, which enable the land and all living beings to thrive. They currently run education programs on food growing, composting, mushroom growing, food preservation, climate-wise gardening, soil ecology, bioremediation, and more. The CEC’s programs rely on volunteers to provide hands-on learning at various urban gardening projects. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they saw an increase in public interest for their programs, but a decrease in volunteer support. The Community Impact Grant will support their 2023 Stewarding Urban Gardens Program, which will revitalize and formalize this popular program.
