We are delighted to have been chosen as the 2019 recipient of the CNA Canada Award for Excellence in Philanthropy & Community Service.
The award, presented at the recent Insurance Canada Business Awards Gala, recognizes the organization whose outstanding contribution of time, leadership and financial support over a sustained period, beyond normal expectations, has made significant impacts in the receiving causes or communities.
Ecclesiastical Insurance is owned by Benefact Trust, the third-largest registered charity in the United Kingdom, and all of our surplus profits are given to the Trust for distribution to charitable causes in the communities we serve globally.
Our signature Canadian giving program is our Community Impact Grant. These grants are made to specific projects that make a positive and sustained impact on the community, by benefiting youth, vulnerable and under-represented people or by supporting the preservation of Canadian heritage.
Giving back to our communities is built into our DNA and our approach to philanthropy and community service extends even farther than our unique ownership.
For example, we provide paid volunteering leave, so staff can support charities meaningful to them. We partner with organizations such as Kids Help Phone, Yonge Street Mission and the Canadian Alzheimer’s society, to provide financial support, organize volunteer days and underwrite important research projects that have the potential to significantly change lives.
We are proud that the hard work of our employees has been recognized with this award and are committed to doing even more in 2020 to contribute to the greater good.
