Ecclesiastical Insurance is honoured to have been presented with a National Trust for Canada’s Governor’s Award, in recognition of our involvement and financial support of the Next Great Save initiative.

The Next Great Save is a competition where communities across Canada vie for a cash prize to ‘save’ historic places in need of repair, retrofit, or renewal. During the most recent competition, numerous applications received were narrowed down to 10 finalists, and almost 200,000 votes determined three winners. Ecclesiastical was proud to contribute the grand $50,000 prize.

“Being leaders in insuring heritage properties, we understand just how important it is to ensure these special properties are protected,” remarks David Huebel, President of Ecclesiastical Insurance. “These heritage properties hold stories that matter today, and by preserving them, we gain the opportunity to tell these stories in meaningful and tangible ways for years to come.”

Preserving these properties doesn’t just mean a fresh coat of paint; the process keeps materials out of the landfill and builds climate resilience. “Saving a property, or retrofitting it with greener technology, not only decreases our carbon footprint, but also is a smart and sustainable use of resources,” reflects Huebel.

Being a part of this important initiative aligns perfectly with our organization’s core values, and we are excited to announce that we are continuing our support of the Next Great Save in 2024.
