Toronto, ONT ––Ecclesiastical Insurance is delighted and honoured to salute Jacinta Whyte as she celebrates 50 years in the world of commercial insurance––a remarkable, fulfilling and inspiring journey!

On July 8th,1974, as a young woman fresh out of high school in Ireland, Whyte joined the Sun Alliance Insurance company.  She found underwriting so interesting and challenging that she decided insurance was the industry for her. Over the next three decades, working for the Sun and then Royal & Sun Alliance, both in Ireland and Canada, she gained a wealth of industry experience and was promoted to increasingly senior positions.

In 2003, Whyte joined Ecclesiastical Insurance as the General Manager and Chief Agent of the Group’s Canadian business. Ecclesiastical was unlike any other insurance company. Owned by AllChurches Trust (today known as the Benefact Trust), the company’s mission is to contribute all available profits to non-profits, charitable organizations and community groups that improve the lives of people in need. This career move was especially meaningful as it allowed Whyte to combine two deeply held personal beliefs –– namely, that doing good business and contributing to the common good could, and should, go hand in hand. In fact, when speaking about Ecclesiastical, Whyte is often heard saying that “giving back is in our DNA!”

“Jacinta’s career has been filled with outstanding achievements and her impact on colleagues, customers and business partners is truly inspiring,” said David Huebel, President of Ecclesiastical Canada.  “She has built exceptional leadership teams, spearheaded new giving initiatives and guided the organization to win a range of highly coveted awards including among others, the Greater Toronto Top Employer award, the Imagine Canada Caring Company designation, Excellence in Philanthropy and Community Service, Excellence in Claims Service and in 2023 P&C Insurer of the Year.  Jacinta herself was awarded the 2020 Insurance Business Woman of Distinction Award, from Insurance Business Canada. This well-deserved award recognizes an outstanding female executive whose achievements, both personal and professional, have earned them a place among the industry’s best.”

Today, as General Manager & Chief Agent for Ecclesiastical Canada and Deputy Group Chief Executive of the Benefact Group, responsible for the Group’s General Insurance businesses globally and as a member of the Ansvar Insurance Australia Board, Whyte divides her time among the Group’s offices in Canada, the UK, Ireland and Australia.

Reaching this 50-year milestone is a testament to Jacinta Whyte’s energetic and dynamic leadership. She continues to mentor many, share her knowledge generously, and always leads by example. Her hard work, unwavering commitment and positive ‘can do’ attitude continue to make a lasting impression on everyone who has the privilege of working with her. Ecclesiastical Canada is proud to congratulate Jacinta Whyte and wishes her continued success!
