April 7, 2026 – Toronto, ON: Canadians are being invited to support the places that matter most to their communities as voting opens for the fourth annual Next Great Save, a national competition led by the National Trust for Canada and supported by Ecclesiastical Insurance.
The Next Great Save competition awards a $50,000 grand prize, provided by Ecclesiastical, to help a community protect and renew a historic place. The winning project will adapt, retrofit, or improve a heritage property, ensuring it remains relevant, resilient, and accessible for generations to come.
Historic properties are often irreplaceable community assets, requiring ongoing stewardship, thoughtful planning, and specialist protection to preserve their value and purpose over time. Initiatives like the Next Great Save help bring national attention to these places while empowering communities to take an active role in their future.
“Over the past four years, the Next Great Save has shown what’s possible when communities take the lead in shaping the future of their heritage places,” said David Huebel, President, Ecclesiastical Insurance. “We’re proud to continue supporting an initiative that not only preserves historic sites but helps reimagine how they can serve communities for generations to come.”
With more than 50 years of experience insuring heritage and culturally significant properties, Ecclesiastical provides specialist protection tailored to the unique risks of historic buildings, supporting organizations in safeguarding these irreplaceable places while enabling them to adapt for the future.
Voting is now open, and Canadians are encouraged to explore the finalist projects and cast their vote to help determine which community will receive the $50,000 grand prize.
